Learn about how WILD is working with Inter*Im and the Danny Woo Gardens to celebrate earth day year round!
Written by WILD Youth: Helen Ung, Rafael Estrella, Irene Situ and Hieu Tran
The Danny Woo Garden is a community garden in the International District. Elderly residents who live in the International District community are able to have their own plots and grow crops, and everyone is allowed to visit the garden. Currently, the Inter*Im Community Development Association is working on a Children’s Garden for the community. The Children’s Garden will be designed for just for kids. It will have plots for flowers, vegetables, fruits, and even have a chicken coop. This Children’s Garden will educate children around the community about their environment.
The Wilderness Inner-City Leadership Development (WILD) is a youth program devoted to making the Danny Woo Children’s Garden a success. WILD is hosting the Earth Day at Danny Woo Garden in order to introduce more people to the garden and to create awareness of the garden. The event will be on Saturday, April 17th at 11AM to 3PM. There will be fun events, games and skits, and prizes. The WILD Earth Day is free and open to everyone.
